Manor ISD recognized our excellent high school students on Thursday with one of the most anticipated events of the school year.
The district held its annual Honor Awards Program at the Manor High School Performing Arts Center. This annual event thanks students and announce award recipients. Awards included the National Honor Society, Student Council, Top 10 Percent, ACC Career Certification, UIL Academic Scholars and more.
In addition, the Manor Education Foundation, Hindu Charities for America, MHS Cheer Club, Manor LIons Club and Rotary Club were some of the many sponsors who donated scholarship money. Seniors were given their honor cords that will be worn on graduation, in addition to their scholarships ranging from $500 to $135,000. Altogether, the district handed out more than $1 million in scholarships!
The Class of 2017 Valedictorian and Salutatorian were also announced for Manor High School. Those students are Julia Nonmacher and Josue Huerta, respectively. Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen were also given awards for perfect attendance, maintaining high GPA's, and extracurricular activities.
The event also gave students a chance to thank Roslyn Caldwell, MISD College & Career Readiness Executive Coordinator, who is retiring at the end of the school year.
Manor ISD would like to thank the previously mentioned organizations along with Money Party Volunteer Fire Academy, MHS PTSA, Bluebonnet Electric, Future Farmers of America, Ronald McDonald, Travis County Youth Show, St. David's, Subiendo UT, Dell, and the United States Armed Forces for their generous scholarships.
